Tom Hardy is a community development practitioner focused on real estate development. He founded Palo Alto Partners, a consulting firm based in Pittsburgh. In addition to this role, he also serves in a leadership role at Altair Real Estate Services, a full-service real estate firm. His current roles focus on the intersection of community, real estate and finance. Tom previously led real estate and community planning efforts for the South Side Local Development Company.

Tom’s academic background includes an undergraduate degree in Public Policy Studies from Duke University. He holds a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Pittsburgh and holds a Master of Business Administration from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the Urban Land Institute. Tom holds a real estate salesperson license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Fall 2024 Teaching

This course teaches the fundamentals of real estate development. Students learn about the real estate development process and the social, economic and regulatory context in which development takes place.
