
Stephen Quick

Stephen Quick is an Adjunct Instructor in Carnegie Mellon Architecture’s Master of Science in Architecture–Engineering–Construction Management program. He has taught as an adjunct in the school’s undergraduate and graduate programs, and from 2010 to 2019 in the Master of Urban Design program.
Steve has practiced as a principal architect and urban designer in Pittsburgh in his own firms and with Perkins Eastman Architects. He has been active in community leadership in Pittsburgh and in service to the architectural profession on the national, state and local levels. His work has received awards in urban and regional design, architecture and green building design.
He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley and his Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Cornell University. Steve has served as a visiting studio critic and given talks at universities and most recently at conferences in China and Rome. He has also led seminars for the American Institute of Architects and at GreenBuild.
His research work focuses on urban design, transportation and smart infrastructure. Recent research has included issues of urban light pollution. His summer course on light pollution has been piloting research as a future component of CMU’s undergraduate programs.
