Diploma Ceremony & Reception

Diploma Ceremony | 2:30-4:30pm ET | Philip Chosky Theater, Purnell Center for the Arts (map)
The School of Architecture invites family, friends, classmates, faculty, and staff to join us for the 2023 Diploma Ceremony.

1:30pm | Graduates Assemble for Diploma Ceremony
All graduating students report to the second floor lobby of Chosky Theater to line up for the SoA diploma ceremony. Graduates should arrive dressed for the diploma ceremony in their caps, gowns, cords, etc. and shoes that they feel comfortable standing and walking in. Graduates must not bring any personal belongings that don't fit in a pocket, as we cannot securely store items during the ceremony.

2:30pm | School of Architecture Diploma Ceremony
The ceremony includes the presentation of diplomas to graduates, hooding of doctoral candidates, and remarks from our undergraduate, graduate, and guest speakers. During the ceremony we will also announce the winners of the Alpha Rho Chi Medal, AIA Medal for Academic Excellence, and the Alumni Design Award.

  • Seating: Tickets are not issued, and the number of guests is not limited, however seating is first come, first served. Seating is available for disabled guests and their companions on the first floor of the theater.

  • Photography: Professional photographs will be taken and made available to graduates and their families.

  • Video Livestream: The ceremony will be livestreamed online for those unable to attend in person. The recording will be made available to graduates and their families.

  • Parking: Guest parking is available in the East Campus Garage (map).

  • International Guests: Please refer to the information on the Office of International Education website for guidance on how to prepare the necessary documentation for guests from outside the United States.

Reception | 4:30-6:30pm ET | College of Fine Arts Great Hall (map)
Immediately following the Diploma Ceremony, we invite our graduates and guests to join us for a reception with light refreshments.
