The building blocks of language—verbs and nouns—are the foundations of spatial experience. This nexus between language and embodied experience provides fertile opportunities to ignite the imagination. The course will engage the creative process as a dialogue between thinking and making.
Students will read, watch, experience, and analyze exceptional stories, from literature, to science fiction, to film and television. Students will make objects as a response to precedent stories, and write stories as a response to given objects.
The culmination of this course will ask students to craft their own short story, told through objects and language, which critically reimagines the future.
