This course explores new forms of media and representation in urban design. The seminar is a project-based course consisting of bi-weekly exercises and reading assignments. Students adopt their own hometown as the primary site for their analysis and representation. Throughout the semester, students are tasked with identifying a specific subject unique to their site of inquiry. They then analyze, interpret and re-represent their subject through a variety of media, including collages, maps, images, renders, matrices, animated GIFs and AI-generated imagery. Consideration is given to drawing/image quality, technique and aesthetics.
